This is Leroy–the king who guards the door. He’s from Indonesia via a yard sale in Portland where we purchased him for $10, a ridiculously low price for such a noble beast. It was love at first sight. Take a look at his eyes.
The remaining cats are of a gentler sort. The next few are from Oaxaca.
Then comes Minnie, my Siamese girl, sleeping with a cuddly velvet friend I found in the gift shop of the Art Museum in Vancouver. I bought Minnie in the Berkshires 19 years ago when we passed by a sign that read “Siamese kittens for sale,” and my heart started pounding. She’s still going strong, with a set of vocal cords that makes a fire alarm sound quiet.
