Yesterday we made an unexpected trip to The Mount, Edith Wharton’s home in Lenox, Massachusetts. While the gardens were lovely and the house itself interesting, it was the trees leading up to the residence that really got me most excited. The trees were of a venerable age with lots of personality, and the abundance of rain in these parts encouraged the growth of moss, resulting in verdant abstract bark paintings.

Extraordinary photographs! The viewer who just casually strolls by thinks, “Wow, an old tree,” but sees nothing of the patterns, the light and shade you show us. More!
